About the Provincial Reintegration Program

The Community Reintegration program at North Fraser Pretrial Centre (NFPC) provides support to individuals who are incarcerated and nearing their transition to the community. Staff assist with release planning, and help service users identify and connect with services that meet their individual needs and goals.

Reintegration workers focus primarily on one-to-one support, and provide information on a variety of areas including:

  • Housing
  • Income assistance and taxes
  • Applying for identification
  • Treatment programs
  • Employment and education opportunities

Reintegration workers also provide information on the rights and responsibilities of people who are incarcerated, and work to reduce the number of barriers faced by individuals before their release.

Working in collaboration with both BC Corrections staff and resources in the community, the reintegration program strives to bridge the gap that exists between individuals’ needs and ability to access services before release to meet those needs.
