About Rent Bank

The Nanaimo Rent Bank provides interest-free loans to help low-to-moderate income renters in the Nanaimo region who are experiencing challenges with paying their rent and/or essential utilities (gas/hydro).

Eligible applicants can receive up to $3,500 in financial assistance, with funds paid directly to landlords or utility providers. Loan repayment begins three months after approval, with flexible repayment terms ranging from 24 to 36 months—though renters can choose to repay early.

Once approved, loan processing takes approximately 1-2 weeks.

This program is made possible by funding provided by The City of Nanaimo and BC Rent Bank.
