About 927 Main

927 Main will provide temporary, transitional housing for 34 individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Staff will be onsite 24/7 to support residents and will offer meal programs, cultural supports, outreach services, and connections to community resources.

The building has recently undergone modifications, and now offers studio apartments with shared bathrooms, kitchenettes, on site laundry facilities as well as common areas and staff office spaces.

Transitional housing is often a stepping stone for individuals transitioning away from the Downtown Eastside. The goal of the program is to provide safe, secure housing while helping residents transition into permanent housing. Staff will offer enhanced case management to support residents’ self-determined goals for longer-term housing.

FAQs

How is this program different from a shelter?

Unlike shelters, where different people may stay each night, temporary housing provides a stable place for residents to stay night after night. At 927 Main, each resident will have their own private living space with a locking door.

Residents of temporary housing also pay rent and sign a housing agreement.

How will the building be maintained?

Connective has a dedicated maintenance team that is responsible for keeping our buildings clean, safe, and well-maintained. The program will have a maintenance manager who will manage any concerns that arise in a timely manner. We also have an extensive network of external vendors who help us address issues.

What is Connective’s experience in operating housing programs?

We’ve been operating housing programs for decades and currently manage over 1,000 housing units across BC and the Yukon.

Our experience gives us a deep understanding of what it takes to create and run effective programs that truly meet the needs of the communities we serve.

Our housing programs are also person-centered, meaning we tailor our services to the people we serve.

Who will live here?

The residents who will live here will be diverse, and we expect folks to be experiencing various challenges. They may be seniors, people with disabilities, people who are employed, people who are working through mental health concerns and/or substance use.

Our on-site supports will be tailored to the needs and level of support that each resident needs.
