Balsam Place

As the operator, we weren’t involved in site selection decisions. Our understanding is that available land is very limited and the need for this type of housing is community wide. With this project coming on board, there is some form of housing with supports in nearly every neighbourhood in Kelowna. 

The residents who will live here will be diverse, and we expect folks to be experiencing various challenges. 

People who experience homelessness may be seniors, people with disabilities, people with employment but no housing, people who are working through mental health concerns and/or substance use.

Our on-site supports will be tailored to the needs and level of support that each resident needs. 

We’re working with BC Housing to offer temporary housing to people through a community-based assessment process that matches people’s needs with the supports available.

As residents move into the program, you may notice more people in the immediate area around Appaloosa Rd. Neighbours may also notice more vehicles in the area as staff come and go from the property.

Like everyone in the community, residents are expected to treat their neighbours with respect. Staff will work with residents and neighbours to foster good relationships, and will be onsite 24/7 if concerns do arise. The safety of residents, staff, and the community is our utmost priority.

Connective is a social services nonprofit with a long history of supporting people in BC. Our housing programs are person-centered, meaning we tailor our services to the people we serve. We work with residents to identify needs, goals, and barriers, and help them connect with the necessary supports and resources.

Our experience allows us to bring unique insights into program development as we collaborate with local partners to understand community needs and build a strong, locally rooted team.
