About 3199 Appaloosa

In partnership with the City of Kelowna and BC Housing, Connective is proud to announce the upcoming HEARTH program at 3199 Appaloosa Road in Kelowna. This program will provide housing and vital supports to 60 people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Set to open in mid-2025, the program will offer 24/7 support services, including meal programs, life and employment skills training, and access to health resources. While designed as a temporary site, we are committed to innovative and flexible approaches that empower residents to transition into stable, long-term housing.

Each resident will have their own single-room “tiny home” unit with a private entrance, complete with a bed, desk, microwave, air conditioning, and heating. The site will also feature shared amenities, such as gathering and dining areas, washrooms, laundry facilities, and storage spaces. To ensure the safety of residents and the wider community, the property will include a fully fenced perimeter, gated access, and security cameras.

Connective is honored to expand our services in Kelowna and we look forward to working closely with neighbours and the wider community to ensure the program has a positive impact on residents and the neighbourhood.

FAQs

Why was this location chosen?

As the operator, we weren’t involved in site selection decisions. Our understanding is that available land is very limited and the need for this type of housing is community wide. With this project coming on board, there is some form of housing with supports in nearly every neighbourhood in Kelowna.

Who will be living here?

The residents who will live here will be diverse, and we expect folks to be experiencing various challenges.

People who experience homelessness may be seniors, people with disabilities, people with employment but no housing, people who are working through mental health concerns and/or substance use.

Our on-site supports will be tailored to the needs and level of support that each resident needs.

How are residents selected?

We’re working with BC Housing to offer temporary housing to people through a community-based assessment process that matches people’s needs with the supports available.

How will the neighbourhood be impacted?

As residents move into the program, you may notice more people in the immediate area. Neighbours may also notice more vehicles in the area as staff come and go from the property.

Like everyone in the community, residents are expected to treat their neighbours with respect. Staff will work with residents and neighbours to foster good relationships, and will be onsite 24/7 if concerns do arise. The safety of residents, staff, and the community is our utmost priority.

Who is Connective?
