About Georgian Court
Georgian Court provides safe, secure housing and wraparound supports to adults on day parole, or on conditional release with residency conditions from federal institutions. The apartment-style building in Kamloops contains a mixture of single and double units, comprising 33 total beds.
Georgian Court features an Indigenous-focused component, known as Clexlixten. Residents at Clexlixten are supported through traditional healing practices and have opportunities to connect with an Elder. Seven beds at Georgian Court are designated for Clexlixten residents.
Staff at Georgian Court provide support services based on residents’ personal goals, and residents can access a variety of health and life skills enhancement programs that foster self-reliance and independence. Supports available include:
- On-site Community Living Outreach Worker
- On-site Elder available to Clexlixten residents
- Outreach and IMPS Worker available to residents, as needed
Residents are also connected to culturally appropriate, trauma-informed supports related to every aspect of their reintegration efforts such as:
- Addictions
- Mental Health
- Employment
- Education goals
Staff also provide support and information on obtaining housing, personal identification, medical coverage, banking services, and recreational opportunities. With support and advocacy, residents can navigate potential obstacles to reintegration, and build positive community connections.
Georgian Court operates under contract with the Correctional Service of Canada. All residents are subject to both general and specific conditions of release.
By bridging the gap between the institution and the community, Georgian Court contributes to community safety and enables residents as they make efforts to affect positive changes in their lives.
