About ACES

ACES (Acquiring Community-Based Employment Skills) provides certificate-based training, along with life skills and employment readiness workshops to individuals facing multiple barriers to employment. The program is offered by Connective and regional delivery partners across BC.

The program supports people to achieve their personalized employment goals through training and support including:

  • Resume and cover letter development
  • Certificate-based training
  • Interview skills training
  • Supported work experience
  • One-to-one support and mentorship
  • Continued training and follow-up supports

The program is designed to meet the needs of people with barriers to employment including older adults, people who have experienced violence and/or abuse, youth, people with disabilities, and people with criminal justice involvement.

FAQs

When is the next ACES program happening?

ACES is an ongoing program that assists individuals who are experiencing difficulties in finding or maintaining employment. Our group trainings are very popular, but our outreach workers can also help register individuals in training courses in the community when our cohorts aren’t running. We also help with job searches, creating resumes, transportation, and working with employers to help program participants maintain stable employment.

I am interested in working towards employment, but I’m not interested in construction, can ACES help me?

We can work with each program participant to pursue training or employment that fits their skills and interests. We’ve connected folks with opportunities in a variety of industries, including beauty, food services, retail, warehousing, peer support, and even dog-walking.
